Modify Application Settings

The SureClinical Desktop Client provides control over many settings to allow Organizations to fine tune them according to their needs. To modify such settings, do the following:

  • Go to S-button menu and select Settings > Application Settings
  • The Application Settings window is split into six tabs: Scanning, Watched Folder, Images, Database, Reports, and Other.
  • In Scanning tab you can modify scanner relevant settings and/or PDF output  settings through two separate tabs.
    • The Scanner settings tab includes the following:
      • Scan profile in use: The default profile is used. However, you can create new profile, clone a selected profile, or delete a selected profile.
      • Current scanner: Shows the details of the currently used scanner and allows selecting another scanner by clicking Select Scanner.
      • Scanner hardware: Displays scanner hardware settings for modification, such as Scan DPI, Scan color, Scan mode, and page size).
      • Scan Image processing: Shows image processing settings, such as enable/disable the blank page removal, enable/disable automatic image deskew (an image that is slanting too far in one direction or one that is misaligned during scanning), enable/disable automatic image negation, and turn on/off automatic contrast.
      • Barcode processing: shows barcode relevant settings including enable/disable detection of barcode during scanning, enable/disable detection of multiple barcodes during scanning, and specify the location (within the document) of barcode cover sheet when found.
      • Enable/disable multipage and automatic document feeder.
      • Show/hide scanner relevant dialog.
    • PDF output settings include the following:
      • Page size, orientation, and image compression level.
      • Enable/disable fitting PDF size to image size when possible.
      • Image size: Shows image settings such as enable/disable the re-sizing of images during upload using either a specific re-sizing percentage or a fixed size. You can also enable/disable re-sizing of images smaller than the specified sizes in both landscape and portrait modes.
      • Image quality: shows image quality settings such as enable/disable compression of images before upload and the percentage of compression, enable/disable compression of images smaller than a specified size, and enable/disable compression of scaled images to a specified size. You can restore default image quality settings by clicking Restore tab to default settings.
  • In Watched Folder tab, you can enable/disable the use of watched folder (used in acquiring content items, such as documents and images, through local machine or network). If watched folders are enabled, you can add to, remove, or reset (i.e., re-install default) watched folders displayed in the Watched Folder List. You can also show/hide category codes within watched folders, enable/disable adding default classification categories to new watched folders, and specify watched folder synchronization frequency.
  • In Images tab, you can modify image processing settings for the SureClinical upload feature. This tab is further split into two tabs: Imaging Settings and PDF Output Settings.
    • The Imaging settings tab includes the following:
      • Image size settings: enable/disable re-sizing of images during upload using either a specific re-sizing percentage or a fixed size. You can also enable/disable re-sizing of images smaller than specific sizes in both landscape and portrait modes.
      • Image quality settings: enable/disable compression of images before upload and the percentage of compression, enable/disable compression of images smaller than a specific size, and enable/disable compression of scaled images to a specific size. You can restore default image quality settings by clicking Restore tab to default settings
    • PDF output settings are similar to those in the PDF output settings tab in the scanning tab.
  • In Database tab you can clear the content of sample database included by default (when SureClinical is first installed) if this sample is no longer required.
  • In Reports tab, you can modify the currently used report logo, enable/disable the use of a watermark and how it looks like, and show/hide the display of Content Type ID numbers (i.e., the unique ID representing a content type) with Content Type Names.
  • In Other tab, you can change the default Country Code (the value assigned automatically to the Country metadata property when you upload documents), the SureClinical support email address, email subject prefix (appended for any email notifications sent to users), and the Email from display name.
